St. Augustine Photoshoot Location Guide

If you’re planning a session, you might be wondering about the best St. Augustine photoshoot locations. From scenic beaches to historic streets, this area is full of beautiful backdrops. Here are a few of my favorite spots that I love recommending for sessions.
Vilano Beach
Vilano Beach is one of my go-to spots for beach sessions near St. Augustine. It has beautiful sea oats in the dunes, natural rock features along the shoreline, and wide open sand that catches the sunset really well.
It’s a great option for families, couples, or maternity sessions who want a classic Florida beach look with a little more texture than a typical flat beach. Plus, it’s just minutes from several great restaurants and coffee spots if you want to grab dinner or a drink before or after your session.

Matanzas Inlet
Matanzas Inlet is a beautiful, natural spot with a sandy path through the dunes that leads to the water, making this one of my favorite St. Augustine photoshoot locations. I love that you can shoot on both the ocean side and the inlet side — giving you two different sunset looks, one bold and dramatic and the other softer and more subtle.
Keep in mind there’s quite a bit of walking involved and limited parking, so it’s best suited for smaller families, couples, and maternity sessions who don’t mind the extra distance for the views.

Downtown St. Augustine
Downtown St. Augustine is one of my favorite locations for its timeless feel and variety. The cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and charming details give every session a unique backdrop with plenty of texture and character. It’s also a super versatile option and a great backup if beach conditions are too windy or rainy.
Because there are so many shaded areas and architectural spots to work with, sessions here can be done successfully any time of day. Keep in mind, this location includes a lot of walking!

Alpine Groves Park
Alpine Groves Park is a peaceful, tree-filled spot with beautiful greenery and soft natural light if you're looking for something near St. Augustine photoshoot locations — perfect for relaxed, intimate sessions. The winding paths and open grassy areas make it easy to navigate, even with larger families, and give your photos a soft, timeless look.
It’s about a 30–40 minute drive from St. Augustine, and versatile enough to work well any time of day.
